In the garlic processing industry, size grading is a critical factor in determining product quality and market value. Traditional grading methods rely heavily on manual screening, which is not only inefficient and labor-intensive, but also difficult to ensure consistent grading accuracy. This often results in mixed sizes, severely impacting the market competitiveness of garlic products. To address this industry pain point, JCSORT, leveraging its years of expertise in agricultural product processing equipment, has developed and launched the JCSORT Garlic Drum Size Grader. With its core advantages of precision, efficiency, and stability, it revolutionizes grading technology for garlic processing companies.
I. R&D Background: Addressing Industry Grading Pain Points and Filling Technological Gaps
With the scaled-up growth of the garlic industry, processing companies are increasingly demanding grading requirements. Manual grading relies on visual and empirical judgment to determine garlic size. This is susceptible to fatigue and subjective judgment, resulting in large grading errors (often exceeding 5mm). Furthermore, each worker can only process 800-1000kg of garlic per day, making it difficult to meet the production capacity requirements of large-scale processing companies. Furthermore, manual handling can damage the garlic skin, increasing the risk of spoilage and loss.
To address these issues, the JCSORT team conducted in-depth research in major garlic-producing areas (such as Jinxiang and Hezhongmu in Shandong Province) and surveyed the actual needs of nearly 100 processing companies. Combining their proven experience with drum grading technology, the team undertook two years of research and development and over 10 technical iterations to develop this size-grading device specifically designed for garlic. This device fundamentally addresses the drawbacks of manual grading, achieving a significant transition from manual reliance to machine-based precision.
II. Core Technology: Drum Grading + Intelligent Design, Defining a New Standard of Precision
The core advantage of the JCSORT garlic drum size grading machine stems from its in-depth research into "precision grading." Key technologies are concentrated in the following three areas:
1. Customized Drum Structure: Grading Accuracy of ±1mm
The core working component of the machine consists of multiple sets of tandem-mounted grading drums. The "grading holes" on the drum surface are precisely calculated and customized to meet common garlic processing requirements (such as 50-60mm, 60-70mm, and 70-80mm). The diameter tolerance of each drum is strictly controlled within ±0.5mm. During operation, the garlic rotates at a constant speed with the drum. When the garlic size is smaller than the current drum hole diameter, it naturally falls into the receiving chute below, achieving "precise separation of same-size garlic." Field testing has demonstrated a grading accuracy of ±1mm, far exceeding the ±5mm standard for manual grading, effectively preventing the problem of mixed-size garlic that can lead to poor product quality.
2. Intelligent Speed Control System: Adapts to Different Varieties and Production Capacity
Taking into account the size differences between different garlic varieties (such as purple and white garlic) and the fluctuating production capacity needs of processing companies, JCSORT equipped the equipment with an intelligent variable frequency speed control system. The operator can freely adjust the drum speed within a range of 5-15 rpm via the control panel: When processing small-sized garlic, the speed is lowered to prevent "grain jamming"; when processing large-sized garlic or when increasing production capacity, the speed is increased to match the production rhythm. The equipment also features a "capacity warning function." When the feed volume exceeds the current speed limit, the system automatically issues an alarm and slows down the feed rate, preventing garlic accumulation and grading failure, ensuring stable operation.
3. Anti-damage Design: Reduces Processing Loss
Garlic skin is delicate, and the hard contact of traditional grading equipment can easily damage the skin, increasing the risk of spoilage during transportation and storage. JCSORT uses a food-grade rubber coating on the drum surface, with a hardness controlled at Shore 60 ± 5A. This ensures the garlic rotates smoothly with the drum while preventing scratches or damage to the garlic skin caused by the metal roller. Furthermore, a cushioning sponge pad is placed at the bottom of the chute to reduce impact when the garlic falls in, further minimizing skin damage. User feedback indicates that using this equipment has reduced garlic processing loss from 8%-10% with manual grading to below 3%, significantly increasing the product's value.
